Nestled in Oria, on the shores of Lake Lugano, just a few minutes by car or bus from our Resort, Villa Fogazzaro Roi enchanted the writer Antonio Fogazzaro, who set much of his novels here, including the famous Piccolo mondo antico (1896).
The residence preserves its literary atmosphere intact: from the study with the writer’s personal memorabilia to the library, from the salon to the dining room, up to the frescoed gallery and the boathouse. The hanging garden overlooking Lake Ceresio completes the charm, blending nature and history.
Transferred to the FAI in 2009 thanks to the efforts of Marquis Giuseppe Roi, Fogazzaro’s great-grandson, Villa Fogazzaro Roi is now an unmissable stop for those wishing to immerse themselves in the charm of bourgeois life in the 19th century and the magic of Italian literature.
